What event editing involves
Events generate a lot of footage: multiple cameras, phone clips from the team, speeches, product reveals, crowd reactions and candid moments. Most of it will never be watched in full. Event editing is about finding the moments that tell the story of the day and assembling them into something people want to watch and share.
The main deliverable is usually a highlight film of two to three minutes that captures the energy and key moments. From the same footage we cut short vertical clips for reels and stories, and, where useful, full-length speaker segments that can live on YouTube or your website.
Events we edit
- Product and project launches: real estate project launches, new store openings, D2C product reveals.
- Exhibitions and trade fairs: stall walkthroughs, visitor interactions and product demos.
- Conferences and seminars: keynotes, panel discussions and networking moments.
- Coaching institute events: result celebrations, orientation days and felicitation ceremonies.
- Clinic and hospital events: health camps, awareness drives and facility inaugurations.
- Corporate celebrations: annual days, dealer meets and team events.
A well-edited highlight film is also a strong sales tool. It shows prospective clients, sponsors or partners what your events and your business look like in practice.
What you receive
- Highlight film: typically two to three minutes, set to licensed music, with branded titles.
- Social clips: a set of short vertical clips for reels, shorts and stories.
- Speaker or segment videos: full or trimmed talks with lower thirds naming each speaker.
- Audio cleanup: speeches levelled and background noise reduced where possible.
- Colour matching: footage from different cameras and phones made to look consistent.
- Branding: event logo, sponsor slides or end cards as required.
Formats
The highlight film and speaker segments are usually delivered in 16:9, with social clips in 9:16 and optionally 1:1 or 4:5 for feeds. Everything is exported as MP4 (H.264). Speaker segments can include an SRT subtitle file for YouTube.
From footage to finished film
- Before the event (ideal): we share a short shot list covering arrivals, key moments, reactions and branding.
- Footage collection: all camera cards and phone clips shared in original quality through a cloud link.
- Selection and sync: we review footage, sync multi-camera segments and mark the best moments.
- Highlight film first cut: shared for feedback on moments, music and length.
- Revisions: changes applied within agreed rounds.
- Clips and segments: social clips and speaker videos cut and exported once the highlight film is approved.
Timing matters with events. Social clips are most useful in the days immediately after, so we can prioritise a few quick clips first and deliver the full highlight film afterwards.
Consent and permissions are worth handling on the day rather than afterwards. If guests, speakers or customers appear prominently, let them know the event is being filmed for promotional use, and check whether any speaker has asked not to be published. Share sponsor logos, the event agenda and a list of speaker names and designations with us along with the footage, so lower thirds and credits are correct first time. A short note of the moments you consider essential, such as a ribbon cutting or an award, ensures nothing important is missed during selection.
Tools
Multi-camera events are edited in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, both of which handle syncing and angle switching well. DaVinci Resolve is also useful for matching colour across different cameras. Titles and sponsor graphics are built in After Effects. Music is licensed for the platforms where the video will be published.
What affects timeline and cost
- Amount of footage: a full-day, multi-camera conference is very different from a two-hour launch.
- Number of cameras and sources that need syncing and matching.
- Deliverables: how many clips and speaker segments you need beyond the highlight film.
- Audio quality: whether speeches were recorded from the sound system or only on camera microphones.
- Urgency: same-week turnaround for social clips needs to be planned before the event.
Common event video mistakes
- Filming only the stage and missing the audience, reactions and atmosphere.
- Relying on camera microphones for speeches in a noisy hall.
- Highlight films that run far too long and include every moment.
- Waiting weeks to publish anything, by which time interest has faded.
- Using popular commercial songs without a licence, leading to muted or blocked videos.
Frequently asked questions
Do you film events?
We focus on editing. You can use your own videographer or team, and we can share a shot list beforehand so the footage covers what a good highlight film needs.
How long should a highlight film be?
Usually two to three minutes. That is long enough to capture the atmosphere and key moments while staying watchable. Full speeches are better delivered as separate videos.
Can you work with footage from phones and multiple people?
Yes. We regularly combine professional camera footage with phone clips from staff and guests, matching colour and audio as closely as the footage allows.
How quickly can we get social clips?
If planned in advance, we can prioritise a handful of short clips soon after receiving footage and deliver the highlight film and full segments afterwards.
Can you add sponsor logos?
Yes. Sponsor slides, logo walls or end cards can be added to the highlight film and speaker segments using the artwork you provide.
