What brochure and flyer design involves
A flyer is usually a single page with one offer or event. A brochure folds or runs to several pages and explains a business, a project or a product range. A catalogue lists many products in a consistent format. What they share is a need for clear organisation: the reader should know what you offer, why it matters and how to contact you almost immediately.
Today many brochures are read more on phones than on paper, shared as PDFs on WhatsApp and email. We design for both, so the same content works as a printed piece and as a file that opens quickly on a phone.
Who uses brochures and flyers
- Real estate developers and agencies presenting projects, floor plans and amenities.
- Manufacturers and exporters with product catalogues for dealers and trade fairs.
- Coaching institutes promoting courses, batches and admissions.
- Clinics and hospitals explaining treatments, packages and health camps.
- Restaurants with menus, takeaway leaflets and event flyers.
- Jewellery shops launching collections or festive offers.
The goal differs by audience. A real estate brochure needs to help a buyer imagine living in the project and compare configurations; a dealer catalogue needs product codes and specifications that are fast to scan; a clinic leaflet needs reassuring, simple explanations. We shape the layout around what your reader needs to decide.
Deliverables and formats
- Print-ready PDF in CMYK with bleed and crop marks, set up for your chosen size and fold (for example bi-fold or tri-fold).
- Lightweight sharing PDF in RGB, compressed so it downloads quickly on WhatsApp and email.
- Page images for posting individual pages on social media or WhatsApp status.
- Editable source files in InDesign, with Canva versions for simple flyers your team may update.
- Consistent grid for catalogues, so products, specifications and codes are easy to compare.
| Piece | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Single-page flyer | Offers, events, handouts, WhatsApp broadcasts |
| Bi-fold or tri-fold brochure | Company or service overview |
| Multi-page brochure | Real estate projects, detailed service explanations |
| Product catalogue | Dealers, distributors, trade fairs |
Our process
- Content review: we read your material and suggest what to cut, reorder or clarify.
- Structure: we plan the page order or panel layout before designing, especially for folded pieces.
- Design: the first spread or panel is designed and approved to set the style.
- Full layout: remaining pages are completed and shared for review.
- Proofing: you check text, prices and contact details carefully; we revise.
- Final files: print and sharing versions are delivered together.
Tools
Multi-page brochures and catalogues are laid out in Adobe InDesign, with images prepared in Photoshop and icons or diagrams in Illustrator. Simple flyers can also be built in Canva if your team wants to reuse them. Photos come from your shoots or licensed stock, and 3D renders or floor plans are placed at print resolution.
For simple flyers that your team updates often, such as monthly offers or batch schedules, we can also supply an editable Canva version so small changes do not need to come back to us.
For catalogues that change often, we set up paragraph and object styles in InDesign so updates such as new products or revised specifications can be made without redesigning pages. That makes the next edition quicker to produce.
What affects timeline and cost
- Page count and the number of products in a catalogue.
- Content readiness: final copy and photos speed things up considerably.
- Copywriting help if the text needs to be written or restructured.
- Image work such as background removal or retouching of product photos.
- Folds and special formats that need careful panel planning.
A single-page flyer with ready content is a quick job. A 20-page project brochure or a catalogue with hundreds of products is closer to a small publishing project, and we plan it in stages with approvals along the way.
Common mistakes
- Filling every space with text so nothing stands out.
- Sending a huge print PDF on WhatsApp that people never open.
- Using low-resolution images copied from a website for print.
- Getting panel order wrong on a tri-fold, so the brochure reads out of sequence once folded.
- Hiding the contact details or call to action on the last page.
Frequently asked questions
What size should a flyer be?
A4 and A5 are the most common because printers stock them and they fit in hands and envelopes. We can design for any size your printer supports and will confirm dimensions before starting.
Can the same brochure be printed and shared on WhatsApp?
Yes. We deliver a print-ready file and a separate compressed PDF sized for quick sharing, from the same design.
Do you write the brochure content?
We can help organise and edit your content. If you need copy written from scratch, tell us at the start so we can plan for it.
Can you design a product catalogue with many items?
Yes. We set up a consistent grid so products, codes and specifications stay easy to compare across pages.
What file do I give to the printer?
The print-ready PDF with bleed and crop marks in CMYK. We can confirm your printer’s exact requirements before finalising.
