Ads & Performance Marketing

Google Shopping Ads

Shopping ads show your product image, title and price directly in Google results. We start with the product feed, because feed quality shapes Shopping performance more than any bid setting.

What Google Shopping Ads are

Shopping ads appear when someone searches for a product, showing an image, title, price and store name before they visit any website. Unlike Search ads, you do not choose keywords. Google decides when to show each product based on the data in your product feed in Google Merchant Center.

That makes the feed the real targeting. A title like “Blue Shirt” competes poorly with one that includes brand, material, fit, colour and size. Missing identifiers, wrong prices, broken images or shipping errors can lead to products being disapproved and quietly dropping out of results.

Who needs Shopping Ads

  • D2C brands with their own online store, from apparel and jewellery to kitchenware and supplements.
  • Retailers with large catalogues who need structure so budget is not spent evenly across thousands of items.
  • Manufacturers selling online direct to businesses or consumers, such as tools, spare parts or packaging.
  • Stores already running Shopping or Performance Max but seeing products marked as limited or disapproved.

What’s included

  • Merchant Center account setup or review: business details, shipping, returns and website verification.
  • Product feed connection from Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom store, or a supplemental feed where the platform export is limited.
  • Feed cleanup and enrichment: titles, descriptions, product types, identifiers, images and custom labels.
  • Resolution of disapprovals, warnings and policy issues.
  • Campaign structure using Standard Shopping, Performance Max or both, segmented by margin, best sellers or category.
  • Purchase tracking with value, so bidding can consider revenue, not only order counts.
  • Ongoing monitoring of feed health and product-level performance.

Why the feed comes first

Shopping ads have no keywords, so Google matches searches to products largely using your titles, descriptions, categories and attributes. A clear, specific title that includes brand, product type and key attributes such as material, size or colour gives Google more to match against. Good images, accurate prices, correct availability and complete shipping details affect eligibility and how appealing the listing looks next to competitors. That is why feed work is where we spend the first part of any Shopping project.

How we deliver it

  1. Audit the feed. We review diagnostics in Merchant Center and check sample products against your site.
  2. Fix and enrich. Titles and attributes are improved, prioritising your highest-value products first.
  3. Label products. Custom labels group items by margin, price band, seasonality or stock so campaigns can treat them differently.
  4. Build campaigns. Your best products get protected budget rather than competing with slow movers.
  5. Track revenue. Purchase events with order value are confirmed in Google Ads and GA4.
  6. Monitor. Disapprovals, price mismatches and feed errors are watched continuously, because they silently remove visibility.

Tools we use

The core tools are Google Merchant Center, Google Ads, GA4 and Google Tag Manager. For catalogues that need regular transformation, we can build a scheduled supplemental feed or a small script that rewrites titles and labels from your product data, since we also build custom software.

What affects results, timeline and cost

Shopping performance depends on price competitiveness, product images, reviews, shipping terms, stock availability and the quality of your feed. If your price is noticeably higher than similar listings, better bidding will not fully compensate. Seasonality also plays a large part in categories like fashion and gifting.

Merchant Center review and feed fixes can take from a few days to a few weeks depending on catalogue size and issues found. Management effort scales with catalogue size and complexity; ad spend is billed by Google directly. We do not promise a particular return on ad spend, but we do show product-level results so decisions are based on evidence.

Margins matter too. Two products with the same selling price can have very different profitability, so we use custom labels to separate high-margin items and set expectations for each group, instead of judging the whole catalogue with one target.

Common Shopping mistakes

  • Leaving product titles exactly as they appear on the site, often too short or vague for search.
  • One campaign for the entire catalogue, so a few products absorb budget while others never show.
  • Ignoring Merchant Center warnings until products are disapproved.
  • Tracking purchases without order value, which limits value-based bidding.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Merchant Center account?

Yes. Shopping ads draw product data from Merchant Center, which is linked to your Google Ads account. We can set it up or fix an existing one.

Standard Shopping or Performance Max?

Both have a place. Performance Max can reach more inventory but offers less visibility and control; Standard Shopping gives clearer data. We choose based on your catalogue, data volume and how much control you need.

Why are my products disapproved?

Common causes include price or availability mismatches, missing identifiers, image problems, missing shipping or return information, and policy issues. The Merchant Center diagnostics tab usually points to the cause.

Does it work with Shopify or WooCommerce?

Yes. Both can feed Merchant Center, and we add a supplemental feed where the default export lacks the detail needed.

Can you manage a catalogue with thousands of products?

Yes. Large catalogues are organised with product types and custom labels, and feed rules or a supplemental feed handle improvements in bulk rather than product by product.
