Shopify Development

Shopify gives you reliable hosting and checkout out of the box. We help stores go further with custom themes, app integrations and product experiences built around how your customers actually shop.

What Shopify development involves

Shopify is a hosted e-commerce platform. It handles servers, security, payments infrastructure and checkout, which makes it a strong choice for brands that want to focus on selling rather than running technology. What it does not do is make your store distinctive or fit unusual requirements automatically.

Shopify development is the work of shaping the store to your brand and operations: customising or building a theme, structuring product data with metafields, integrating apps and external systems, and extending checkout where your Shopify plan allows it.

Who it’s for

  • D2C brands launching a new store that should not look like every other template.
  • Growing stores that have outgrown their theme and need better product pages or collection filtering.
  • Brands selling internationally that need multiple markets, currencies or languages.
  • Stores with operational complexity, such as bundles, pre-orders, subscriptions or wholesale pricing.
  • Existing stores that feel slow or have accumulated too many apps.

What we can do

  • Custom theme builds or customisation of a quality base theme using Liquid and Online Store 2.0 sections.
  • Product page improvements: variant selectors, size guides, bundles, product videos and rich specifications.
  • Metafields and metaobjects for structured product and content data.
  • Collection filtering and search improvements.
  • App selection, configuration and integration, and removal of apps you no longer need.
  • Integrations with ERP, inventory, courier, CRM or WhatsApp notification tools.
  • Checkout extensions on plans that support them.
  • Migration to Shopify from WooCommerce or other platforms.

Existing stores start with an audit

Before writing code on an existing store, we review it: theme code, installed apps, page speed, product data, navigation, collection structure and the path from product page to checkout. Sometimes the fix is configuration, such as better collection setup or removing a heavy app, rather than development. We tell you when that is the case.

Uninstalling a Shopify app does not always remove the code it added to your theme. Cleaning up leftover app code is often a quick way to improve speed.

How we deliver

  1. Discovery or audit. Goals, catalogue, markets and current pain points.
  2. Design. Home, collection, product and cart designs, mobile first.
  3. Development. Theme work on an unpublished copy, so the live store is untouched.
  4. Integration. Apps and external systems connected and tested.
  5. QA. Test orders across payment methods, discount codes, markets and devices.
  6. Publish and monitor. The new theme goes live, and we watch closely in the first days.

Product discovery and product pages

On most stores, revenue is decided in two places: whether shoppers can find the right product quickly, and whether the product page answers their questions well enough to add it to the cart. That is where we spend most of our design and development effort.

For discovery, we look at collection structure, navigation and filtering. A clothing brand needs filters for size, colour and fit that actually reflect available stock. A home goods store may need shopping by room or material. For product pages, we use metafields to present specifications, care instructions, size guides and delivery information in a consistent, scannable format instead of long blocks of description text.

  • Collections and menus organised around how customers shop, not internal categories.
  • Filters based on clean product data in metafields and variants.
  • Product pages with clear variant selection, images for each variant and delivery information.
  • Related and complementary products that make sense for the item being viewed.
  • Fast-loading media, so image galleries do not slow the page on mobile.

Clean product data also pays off beyond the store itself, feeding marketplace listings, Google Merchant Center and marketing emails from the same source.

What affects timeline and cost

  • Custom theme versus customising an existing one.
  • Catalogue size, variant complexity and product data quality.
  • Number of apps and external integrations.
  • International markets and languages.
  • Your Shopify plan, which determines what checkout customisation is available.

Common Shopify mistakes

  • Installing an app for every small feature until the storefront slows down.
  • Editing the live theme directly instead of a duplicate.
  • Storing product details in long descriptions instead of structured metafields.
  • Choosing a theme for its demo images instead of how it suits your catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a custom theme or will a premium theme do?

Many stores do well with a quality theme customised to their brand. A custom build makes sense when your products, content or brand experience need layouts the available themes cannot provide.

Can you customise the Shopify checkout?

Some checkout customisation is available to all stores through settings and apps, while deeper checkout extensions depend on your Shopify plan. We explain what is possible on yours.

Can you migrate my store from WooCommerce to Shopify?

Yes. We migrate products, customers and order history where possible, and set up URL redirects so search visibility is preserved.

Can Shopify work with Indian payment gateways?

Yes. Shopify supports several gateways used in India, such as Razorpay, PayU and Cashfree, alongside Shopify’s own options in supported regions. We help you choose and configure them.

Will too many apps slow my store?

They can. Many apps add scripts to every page. We review your installed apps, remove what is unused or duplicated, and clean up leftover code from apps that were uninstalled.
