More than a pay button
Showing a checkout form is the easy part of payments. The hard part is making sure your order records and the gateway always agree. A customer closes the browser just after paying. A network timeout hides whether a charge went through. A webhook arrives twice, or before the order is saved. A refund is issued from the gateway dashboard instead of your admin panel. Each of these can leave an order marked unpaid when it’s paid, or paid when it isn’t.
We build the integration around the gateway’s server-side confirmation — verified webhooks and payment status checks — rather than trusting what the browser reports, and we reconcile the two sides so they don’t drift apart.
Your finance team benefits as much as your customers do. When every payment, refund and settlement can be traced back to a specific order, month-end checks become a matter of reviewing a short list of exceptions rather than matching rows by hand.
Who this is for
- E-commerce stores that need reliable checkout, refunds and order status updates.
- SaaS startups charging subscriptions or usage-based plans, in India and abroad.
- Clinics and coaching institutes collecting advance bookings or fees online.
- Real estate businesses collecting booking amounts or token payments through a portal.
- Service businesses sending payment links by WhatsApp or email.
Warning signs: staff manually check the gateway dashboard to confirm orders, customers report being charged without an order confirmation, duplicate orders appear after slow payments, or test and live keys have been mixed up before.
What’s included
- Checkout flow using the gateway’s hosted or embedded components, so card data doesn’t touch your servers.
- Webhook signature verification, so only genuine gateway events can change an order.
- Idempotency on order creation and webhook handling, so retries and duplicate events don’t double-process.
- Handling of failure paths: timeouts, abandoned payments, partial captures, refunds and duplicate submissions.
- Reconciliation that compares gateway records with your orders and flags mismatches.
- Separate test and live configuration, with keys stored securely on the server.
- Subscriptions, payment links or UPI flows where your business needs them.
Gateways we work with
| Gateway | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Razorpay | Indian businesses: cards, UPI, netbanking, wallets, payment links, subscriptions |
| Stripe | International card payments and subscriptions, where available to your business |
| PayPal | Customers abroad who prefer to pay with a PayPal account |
| UPI | Usually through a gateway such as Razorpay, including intent and QR flows |
Each gateway has its own onboarding, supported features and settlement rules. We work with whichever your business has been approved for and can connect more than one where you serve both domestic and international customers.
How we deliver it
- Map the money flow. One-off payments, subscriptions, refunds, partial payments — and what each should do to an order.
- Build in test mode. The full flow is built against the gateway’s sandbox with test cards and UPI simulations.
- Test the failure paths. We deliberately simulate declined payments, delayed webhooks, duplicates and refunds.
- Go live carefully. Live keys are configured on the server, webhooks registered, and the first live transactions checked end to end.
- Reconcile. A reconciliation report or job compares gateway records with your orders on a schedule.
What affects timeline and cost
- Number of gateways and payment methods.
- One-off payments versus subscriptions, trials and plan changes.
- Refund, cancellation and partial-payment rules.
- Whether your existing order system is clean or needs restructuring first.
- Gateway account approval — this depends on the provider, not on us, so we plan around it.
Once we’ve seen your order flow and the gateway you’ve chosen, we give you a clear scope and estimate before any work begins.
Common payment integration mistakes
- Marking an order paid based on a browser redirect instead of a verified server-side confirmation.
- Not verifying webhook signatures, which lets anyone post a fake “payment successful” event.
- Processing the same webhook twice and sending two confirmations or shipping twice.
- Live and test keys mixed between environments.
- Ignoring refunds issued directly from the gateway dashboard.
Frequently asked questions
Which payment gateway should we choose?
It depends on where your customers are and which methods they use. For Indian customers, a gateway supporting UPI is usually essential; for international card payments, Stripe or PayPal may fit better. We’ll explain the trade-offs, but the account itself is between you and the provider.
Can you fix payments that are not matching our orders?
Yes. We audit the current flow, find where orders and payments diverge — usually webhook handling or redirect-based confirmation — and fix it, then reconcile past records where possible.
Do you store card details?
No. We use the gateway’s hosted or embedded checkout so card data goes directly to the gateway. Your system stores only references such as payment IDs and status.
Can you set up subscriptions and recurring billing?
Yes, using the gateway’s subscription features where available, including plan changes, failed-payment handling and cancellations.
Can we accept both Indian and international payments?
Often, yes — sometimes with two gateways side by side. It depends on the approvals your business receives from each provider.
