What this service is — and is not
Market and company research means building a structured dataset about organisations and markets: which companies operate in a sector, where they are, roughly how large they are, what they offer and what technology or channels they appear to use. Each fact comes from a publicly published source such as a company’s own website, a public registry or an open directory.
Who uses company and market data
- A D2C brand assessing how many competing brands sell in its category and how they position and price themselves.
- A logistics firm mapping warehouses, freight operators and industrial clusters in a region before opening a branch.
- A real estate agency studying which developers are active in which micro-markets and what project types they launch.
- A software or services company sizing the number of businesses in a target segment and geography.
- A coaching institute reviewing the courses, formats and published fee structures of institutes in its city.
- An investor or consultant building a sector map for a feasibility study.
What these teams share is a question about a market — how big it is, who operates in it, how players position themselves — rather than a need to contact individuals. A good dataset answers that question with evidence you can trace, and makes it easy to repeat the study next quarter to see what has changed.
What a research dataset includes
- Company-level fields you define, such as name, website, industry, city, company size band, products or services, and year established where published.
- Market attributes such as categories served, price positioning shown on public pages, or technology visible on the website.
- Source URL and collection date on every record, so anything can be checked or refreshed.
- A methodology note explaining which sources were used, how records were matched and what was excluded.
- Clean, deduplicated output in the format your tools import, from Excel to a CRM-ready file for account planning.
How we build the dataset
- Define criteria. We agree the industry, geography, size and other filters, and the fields you need.
- Choose sources. We identify public sources that genuinely cover the segment, and check their terms and robots directives.
- Collect and match. Records from different sources are collected politely and matched to the same company.
- Clean and classify. Names, locations and categories are normalised so the data can be filtered and counted.
- Review. A sample is checked by hand for accuracy before full delivery.
- Deliver and refresh. You receive the dataset and methodology note, with an optional scheduled refresh.
Tools and data handling
Collection uses Python with Scrapy or Playwright depending on the source, and pandas for matching, cleaning and classification. Where public registries or directories offer an official API or downloadable dataset, we use that instead of scraping — it is more reliable and more respectful of the source.
If a source page happens to show individuals’ names or contact details, we leave them out unless there is a clear lawful basis to process them under the DPDP Act 2023, GDPR or other applicable law. This is our working policy, not legal advice.
What affects timeline and effort
- Breadth of the segment — a niche in one city is quicker than a national, multi-industry map.
- Source quality — well-structured public registries are faster to work with than scattered websites.
- Number of attributes — each extra field may require visiting additional pages per company.
- Classification rules — assigning companies to your own categories needs careful, documented logic.
- Refresh needs — a one-time study differs from a dataset kept current every quarter.
Frequently asked questions
Can you give me a list of decision-makers’ emails and phone numbers?
No. We do not compile or sell personal contact lists or supply data for unsolicited outreach. We build company and market datasets from publicly published sources for research and planning.
Which sources do you use?
Publicly published sources such as company websites, public registries and open directories, chosen per project. The source URL and collection date are recorded on every record.
Can the dataset be imported into our CRM?
Yes, as company-level account records for planning and segmentation. We format the file to match your CRM’s import fields.
How current is the data?
It reflects the sources on the collection date recorded against each record. We can schedule regular refreshes if you need the dataset kept up to date.
Can you research markets outside India?
Yes, where good public sources exist for that country or region. Coverage varies by market, so we review available sources during scoping and tell you honestly how complete the dataset is likely to be.
